We pride ourselves on providing our guests with the highest possible chance of success on our high country public and private land elk, deer, predator and elk/deer/predator combination hunts. Situated in Game Units 39, 43, 44, 48 and 49, our camps offer the finest tents, wood burning stoves, cots and general amenities found in the Rockies. Many of our hunts are very physically demanding and your odds of success depend directly on your level of fitness and desire. You can be sure that your guides and wranglers will do everything in their power to assist you on your way to fulfilling your big game dreams but the success of your hunt will largely depend on you.
Elk Hunting
Sun Valley Outfitters operates public and private land archery and rifle Rocky Mountain elk hunts in units 39, 43, 44, 48 and 49. Located in some of central Idaho’s most majestic and mountainous regions, these hunts take place over the course of seven days and feature five full days of hunting in addition to a pack-in and pack-out day. Our guests have been featured in various magazines and TV shows as a result of our extremely high success rates on trophy animals.
Mule Deer Hunting
Sun Valley Outfitters operates public and private land archery and rifle mule deer hunts in units 39, 43, 44, 48 and 49. Located in some of central Idaho’s most majestic and mountainous regions, these hunts take place over the course of seven days and feature five full days of hunting in addition to a pack-in and pack-out day. Predator Hunting
Sun Valley Outfitters also offers black bear and cougar hunts in conjuction with our elk and deer hunting trips. In fact, non-resident deer tags can be used for bear or cougar in any of our public or private, general or controlled hunts in unit 48 or 49 for no additional fee.
Bird Hunting
Grouse are the quarry of choice in the Sun Valley area and Sun Valley Outfitters provides our guests with the opportunity to hunt this fine gamebird. Blue grouse and ruffed grouse occupy the surrounding forests and a horseback hunt for these fast fliers is not to be missed. Up to four hunters may accompany our wrangler and guides who, along with our top-notch bird dogs, make for an unforgettable hunting experience.
Controlled Hunt Application Process
The application period to apply for deer and elk controlled hunt tags is May 1st to June 5th. This can be done in person at any State of Idaho Fish and Game vendor or over the internet at the Idaho Fish and Game web site. In order to enter the controlled hunt lottery, you must first purchase an Idaho hunting license. License and tag fees may be reviewed in the Idaho Big Game Regulations which can be picked up at any local vendor or downloaded from the Idaho Fish and Game web site.
